Michael Hepburn - world champion team pursuiter !
Saturday, 27 March 2010
Guys,
FYI, last night, the Aussie Team Pursuiters...
which includes Ipswich Cycling Club cyclist Michael Hepburn (at only 18, the youngest member of the foursome)
... rode 3:55.654 - lowering the Australian TP record by nearly a full second - to beat the highly favoured Brits (3:55.806), and win Gold and the Rainbow Jersey, at the UCI [Open/Senior] Track Worlds, in Copenhagen.
Michael is (still) the current Junior World Champ (Individual Pursuit) from Moscow in August last year.
You might recall that last year in Moscow his Aussie TP team won Silver after one of the boys fell in the Final against the Russians. I am sure this more than makes up for it!
FYI, Michael is also the current:
* National [Open/Senior] Omnium Champion, which he won at the Nationional Track Champs in Adelaide (in February); and
* National [u/23] Road Race Champion, won at National RR Chams in Buninyong (in January).
Regards,
Len Hepburn
Cameron Meyer, Jack Bobridge, Michael Hepburn and Rohan Dennis on top of the podium.
